If you want to play better golf the moment the season begins, here is what to do!
1. Don't count your score...wait a few rounds before you do that! Just go out have fun, feel the club hitting the ball and try and make a few pars. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to shoot your career round.
2. Buy new equipment...nothing gets you geared up like a new set of sticks! You don't have to break the bank, but you should buy at least one new club each season. A driver, hybrid, three wood, wedge but at least something to get you excited about hitting shots.
3. Regardless what the experts say, don't hit the range first....go to the bar, grab a cold beer, or a mixed drink and get prepared for the season by relaxing. Golf is about fun and relaxation and nothing will relax you faster than a cool drink on the patio. Golf comes 2nd!
4. If you can't buy a new club at least re-grip your clubs! Do this once a year and you will be amazed at the improvement...it is a simple inexpensive fix.
5. Stretch before you play and not that old move where you put the club behind your shoulders and move a little, I mean a good deep stretch. It will save your back and make you feel a lot better after the round.
6. Invite a Junior golfer to play with you and see how much they enjoy simply playing the game and don't get too involved in mechanics, swing plane, spine angle etc. You will see how they just try to hit it and have fun, which a lot of us forget to do....just have fun!
